Adrian (Golly) Watson: Daintree Conservation Officer
Golly is our resident Cassowary Whisperer; he has a passion for the Daintree and his knowledge of the Daintree is extensive, which he eloquently passes on to all our visitors and volunteers.
Awarded the Peter Hitchcock Community Champion Award in 2018, in recognition for his conservation, rehabilitation and education work in the Daintree; Golly has spent many years working in the Daintree, as a Ranger with the Independent Environmental Protection Agency, running the Cassowary Care Centre and now, overseeing and managing the native tree nursery at our conservation headquarters, the Benella Rainforest Reserve.
Golly is passionate about educating future generations on the diverse and complex ecosystem that is the Daintree and the important role conservation has to ensure its protection for years to come.
